I had the pleasure of hosting an amazing night starring Damian ‘Junior Gong’ Marley for part of Jamaica’s 50th Independence celebrations in London this July. The night also featured brothers Stephen and Julian Marley as well as the Ghetto Youths crew. Even hanging backstage there is much to be admired about Damian’s professionalism and attitude to work.. A real star!

Dancehall artiste Shabba Ranks, who lives in America and has not been in Jamaica for many years.
He strolled through the arrival hall to much fanfare. And it was sheer excitement when Shabba emerged from the arrival hall and stepped outside. Fans rushed to greet the deejay with vuvuzelas and flags in hand.
Shabba’s mother, ‘Mama Christie’, who had not seen her son in four years, was overcome with emotions as she embraced him.
Colonel Josey Wales came to the rescue and calmed the crowd to get Shabba safely out of the airport where they were met by a fan who had hooked up a massive sound system in celebration of Shabba’s return.
Shabba proceeded to visit places where he grew up. At Compound he ran into the original front teeth, gold teeth don gaugon, Ninja Man, Mr. Lex, General B, Wickerman and later Snaggapuss made an appearance.
Shabba said he was happy and excited to be back in Jamaica and that he is looking forward to his Reggae Sumfest performance on Friday night.
